چکیده

Abstract Mixed-Integer optimization represents a powerful tool for modeling many optimization problems arising from real-world applications. The Feasibility pump is a heuristic for finding feasible solutions to mixed integer linear problems. In this work, we propose a new feasibility pump approach using concave nondifferentiable penalty functions for measuring solution integrality. We present computational results on binary MILP problems from the MIPLIB library showing the effectiveness of our approach.

Feasibility Pump-like heuristics for mixed integer problems

Finding a feasible solution to aMIP problem is a tough task that has receivedmuch attention in the last decades. The Feasibility Pump (FP) is a heuristic for finding feasible solutions to MIP problems that has encountered a lot of success as it is very efficient also when dealing with very difficult instances. In this work, we show that the FP heuristic for general MIP problems can be seen as t...

A New Class of Functions for Measuring Solution Integrality in the Feasibility Pump Approach

Mixed-Integer optimization is a powerful tool for modeling many optimization problems arising from real-world applications. Finding a first feasible solution represents the first step for several MIP solvers. The Feasibility pump is a heuristic for finding feasible solutions to mixed integer linear problems which is effective even when dealing with hard MIP instances. In this work, we start by ...

New results on the equivalence between zero-one programming and continuous concave programming

In this work, we study continuous reformulations of zero-one concave programming problems. We introduce new concave penalty functions and we prove, using general equivalence results here derived, that the obtained continuous problems are equivalent to the original combinatorial problem.

Upper and Lower Degree Bounded Graph Orientation with Minimum Penalty

Given an undirected graph G = (V,E), a graph orientation problem is to decide a direction for each edge so that the resulting directed graph G⃗ = (V,Λ(E)) satisfies a certain condition, where Λ(E) is a set of assignments of a direction to each edge {u, v} ∈ E. Among many conceivable types of conditions, we consider a degree constrained orientation: Given positive integers av and bv for each v (a...
